The baby gate is either pressure or hardware mounted which is great for parents who like to move the gate from doorway to doorway. The baby safety gate is also a great barrier for pets. The Summer Infant Sure and Secure Extra Tall Gate features a door which swings closed and locks automatically. That is an outstanding feature not found on all baby safety gates. It is one of the tallest baby gates on the market as it stands at a height of 3 feet tall. The baby gate from Summer Infant also includes one 5 in. extension and one 10 in. extension.

Summary: Great gate for babies or puppies!
Comment: We actually bought this gate to keep our new puppy in the kitchen and couldn't be happier with it. Is is very sturdy, easy to use and install and best of all it looks very nice. The gates we had previously (for our son as a baby) were nowhere near as stable and were quite ugly. This is great, especially if you have a wider opening. It comes with 2 extensions allowing it to fit a variety of opening widths right out of the box.

Summary: Great for tall parents
Comment: I have used this gate in a wide kitchen doorway without the permanent mounts, and it is now in use at the top of the stairs with the mounts. I used the included extensions both times. The extensions being included makes this gate a real value!
The gate is there to contain our 1 year old, but it is very easy for my 5 year old to use. Also, my 5 year old is autistic and has really abused this gate by slamming it shut and running into it. It has stood up admirably.
My favorite feature is the height of the gate. When I'm carrying the baby or an armload of laundry, I don't have to stoop over to get the gate open. Great product, I would buy another one.

Comment: I'm using this baby gate on the stairs on my outside deck. I had to use the extensions to get a good fit. It's easy to open.. just push the button and lift up. It was easy to install. The opening to the gate could be a bit larger. Seems to be holding up to the weather.

Comment: I've been an avid Amazon customer for a couple of years now with many purchases under my belt. However, until now, I was never compelled to share my thoughts about any of my purchases because most purchases have generally met our expectations and nothing more.
Well, I have to say that the Summer Infant Metal Gate has met AND exceeded our expectations. I did not know what to expect with this product having had old flimsy plastic gates in the past (for my kids). This product is not only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but is extremely well designed and built. It is an all around solid product.
We purchased this metal gate as well as Summer Infant's decorative wood and metal gate in preparation for our upcoming puppy. We are equally pleased with the wood and metal gate Summer Infant Metal and Wood Walk-Thru Gate. Obviously only time well tell if the gates will be able to withstand any punishment from our upcoming puppy.
In terms of installation, it took a bit of time to adjust the gate in order to square it up properly, but once this was achieved the gate latches worked great and the gates stand firmly in place.
We could not be happier with our purchase!

Comment: Gate is being used to contain puppies in an outside area - went up easily, looks good and is reasonably secure. We do have to be careful when shutting the gate to ensure the mechanism is locked in place. No matter what we've done, we haven't been able to make it swing to close and lock. Even so, are pleased with the purchase.
