Summary: Do Not Recommend
Comment: Using this is too difficult. It definitely takes both hands and a lot of finagling to get the top and bottom lined up and hooked in. I'm getting a different gate.

Summary: Wonderful gate!
Comment: We ordered the gate recently and I love that it slides out of sight. You can control the "noise" by holding the button down like you do to open the gate, while shutting the gate and THEN it is not noisy. You can absolutely NOT close or open the gate one handed. You need one hand to open the latch while the other hand pulls the gate out or unhooks the gate from the locked position. We put this at the bottom of our stairs and a step stool in front of it at the base so that my older kids can climb over the gate without having to open it. This is helpful since they are 8 and 11. It is effective at keeping baby out. I wish they made one for a longer opening to fit my other staircase.

Both of my older kids are able to open and close the gate so it doesn't take rocket science to figure out. It was a little confusing installing the gate but not too difficult, and with only my kids help in holding things in place.

Summary: Good product
Comment: We purchased this gate for the bottom of our stairs with banisters on both sides. It works great and protects (& is strong enough against) our 2 1/2 year old twins, and 11 month old as well. It is noisy when it retracts, but is quiet if you keep the button depressed as it retracts. Many previous posters pointed this out as a flaw, but the company made it that way as a safety (notification) feature - and you are able to get around the noise easily. My only complaint is that it is not one handed. I figured it wouldn't be based on the width of our stairs, but it would have been nice. Overall, we really like the product.

Summary: Best baby gate out there!
Comment: We love our Kiddy Guard gates, and recommend them to everyone. They work perfectly in that they keep kids of all sizes where you want them, and no one can accidently fall down the stairs. They are a bit loud, sure, but no louder than, say, coughing...it's not a big deal. And yes, you can operate them one-handedly. Ours have been through 2 babies, and after a learning curve of a week or so, it's no problem. Even babysitters can manage it after a time or two. It's great to be able to easily remove a baby gate once you don't need them, and if you have a house where you have bannisters or open stairs instead of a basic wall-on-either-side staircase, you can't get any better than this.

Summary: Works well for Banisters
Comment: This was the only gate I could find that would fit on my spiral staircase that was metal. I had to buy the kit, but it fit on the stairs without drilling holes or hardware. It is a little difficult to operate at first, and nealy impossible to do it with one hand, but I guess that makes it more difficult for your child to operate. Would recommend it if you have to put a gate on stairs where there are banisters and no where to mount hardware.
